(do you want to know) He listens to the hall; He's listened there before: He's waiting for the call to come from the NEED SUPERIOR He fumbles with his lace; He practices his face: He's waiting for the warmth to fall on a cool interior But in his waiting you can feel his hesitation 'Cause he's suffered enough from love And in the crafts of conversation you can feel his reservation 'Cause he's suffered enough from love She's separate in a stare; She brushes back her hair: He's off inside the place where ghosts of regret appear to her She's traveled there before; She notices the floor: She's waiting for the call to come from the NEED SUPERIOR And those these stories may seem miserable and tragic Covered by the falling leaves of love Believing in the magic Is the hand that resembles the glove (xo) And in her waiting you can feel her reservation 'Cause she's suffered enough from love As in the corners of her smile lies the distance all the while 'Cause she's suffered enough from love thegreatestmomentofhislifewasonthecitystreetinherembracehehadtoclenchhiseyesforfearthetearsstartstreamingdownhisfacebutinherhearttherewasanactresswithasmileofpeppermintsandtoallthesidewalkwalkersthiswasjustaninconvenience

Apple Sky 02:53
Pie in the sky Do you want to know? Apple in eye Is there any more To a God in the sky or a dime on the floor? Pie in the sky Now do you find yourself thinking? Apple in eye If we all turn inside Do we find a new life do we find a new prize? Look for the silver lining When you go cloud mining And you'll soon be finding A heart in a stone. I believe I was given space Then regarded as no more I believe I was given face Then lost in space And forced now to explore in an apple sky. Look for the silver lining When you go cloud mining And you'll soon be finding A heart in a stone. Look for the silver lining When you go cloud mining There's always something worth finding In a heart and in a stone.

If it was easy, it'd be good as done If I could shanghai my emotions, I'd be the happy one But, still I'm like an egg on a Sunday morning menu Poached or fried, my tongue is tied The flame is high If it was flexible I would have bent it 'til it touched itself If it was seperable I would isolate 'til there's no one else But, still I'm like an iron on a silk skirt slowly burning I'm alone, there's no one home The flame is high I'm on fire I'm burning away And I only spoke my mind Cloudy hearts, sunny day And you, you're like a match Sticking it to me Go on, burn on Everybody's got the teeth If I were crazy Instead of proud If I could whisper to you gently Instead of thinking aloud But, still I'm like a dime Lying face down in the pavement Stepped upon, I'm almost gone The flame is high I'm on fire I'm burning away And I only spoke my mind Cloudy hearts, sunny day And you, you're like a match Sticking it to me Go on, burn on Na na na etc. Still, I'm like an iron Lying face down in the pavement Tortured moans and innocent groans The flame is high I'm on fire I'm burning away And I only spoke my mind Cloudy hearts, sunny day And you, you're like a match Sticking it to me Go on, burn on Everybody's got the teeth And they're sticking it to me

Roses 04:26
Now I need time on my own If I say to you I need time on my own Just to push me through I see time on my shelf There to hold my days I feel time on my hands And it makes me say Luck runs thin But patience will pay to the ones who wait One tree searches the sky It's coming to quench its grace Yes, we are what we are This I'm glad to say It's me certainly you And its here we stay Everybody plays the fool Sometimes as a rule Rule right as the king Same thing You pull the trigger Everybody makes the grade Sometimes we're afraid But I'll give you roses it you give me roses Maybe its time Maybe I'm late Maybe you're there Maybe you'll wait One thing's for sure We are what's in store I feel light slip in my skin And reflect this page I fill without a word Just the voice I save to see Without a clue is the price I pay When we are what we are And remain this way One - in a word, I can send you the flowers for Two - fisted fool, by the pool When I feel it coming up Three - You and me and the earth that replaces my Floor - what's it for? I can never see the meaning of it coming up Five golden rings Fix - me some tricks by the light of the slippery Seven - on the dice would be nice But I never see it coming up Eight - is a crowd when there's no dogs allowed so it's Nine - all mine and it's coming up Roses

Smile 03:04
Go on and smile Everybody's so grim-faced Everybody's afraid of what they made Don't be afraid And don't be afraid to smile It's such a good face It's up to you know what to do Know who to do it to Strong stuff can make a strong man weak In just a week With all the adversaries, charging bulls and black canaries It takes more than a day to wipe the world away Don't beat on someone else's door It couldn't take no less no more to smile Where lonely hearts and sadness reign Instead of pain Why not feel more than merry Warm hearts drink bananaberry They want to feel love to make them strong It can't be wrong But to a precious few You know, now what you gonna do? I've been waiting on the answer For the birds to sing My heart's been ringing so long I've been talking to them. Were you shown the wrong direction? I can see the pain in your eyes I'm the hand of freedom Come on and evade detection I'm a man of feeling Won't you come along with me? It's hard to push aside the pain But just the same You've got one like to live And something that we'd like to give you You say you need love to make you strong It can't be wrong, we all agree it's true You know, now what you gonna do? Smile Everybody's so grim-faced Everybody's afraid of what they made Don't be afraid And don't be afraid to smile It's such a good face It's up to you Know what to do Know who to do it to.

Sunday Shoes 04:39
Sunday Sunday is a rainy day shady day When I find my shoes On a Sunday Sunday. Sunday is when I find myself A day I use to share myself Like a tree I need sun to grow on Sunday. So give me room and I'll spread my leaves On the ground beneath my hurting feet I will use them to feed myself like mistakes I've made in the past. Oh. If I could give you a gift I think I'd give you a home, One you could return to with a big telephone. And it only has one number And it only calls one place And it's there for just one reason To call me, just in case In case things get a little lonely, In case things get a little strange... If I could give you a gift I think I'd give you a home One you could return to So you'd never be alone. (Sing this part for your friends at least five times) Sunday shoes I wear when I run Into your arms as if shot from a gun I know that one day we'll fly to the sun And warm our love all the way. Sunday is when I wake by your side And I know that one day you will be my bride And I hope that one day I die by your side 'Cause I'll love you more even then. Oh.

Please I don't want this world without your love I don't need this world without your love Your love is gonna bring me higher You higher We higher Us higher I have seen your natural wonder And sensed all ancient circles surround me In patching these shoes that are worn from walks OUTSIDE myself Cross woodland trails and coveted highway Still darling I say please I don't want this world without your love I don't need this world without your love Your love is gonna bring me higher (still higher) I will love you And that is this night and forever MY BROTHERS AND MY SISTERS I want to see it grow Come on and keep it showing I want to see it show Come on and keep it growing from the top of every small hour past and yet to be Burn yourselves a candle people (antigravity solo) Now I stop to see my progress Through pad and picture laid out before me In patching these shoes that are worn from walks INSIDE myself I find that it's all part of the process So just say YES I will love you And that is this night and forever MY BROTHERS AND MY SISTERS I want to see it grow Come on and keep it showing I want to see it show Come on and keep it growing Oh yes I will love you And that is all night and forever MY BROTHERS AND MY SISTERS I want to see it grow Come on and keep it showing I want to see it show On the prayers of every small flower cast upon the sea Burn yourselves a candle people Please I don't want this world without your love I don't need this world without your love Your love is gonna bring me higher Please I don't want this world without your love I don't need this world without your love Your love is gonna bring me higher And higher Still higher And higher Burn yourselves a candle people Burn yourselves a candle.

about

Serious Pilgrim:
Peter Bavaro - bass, vocals
Tom McGivney - drums, vocals
Martin Rivas - guitar, vocals
Mick Wieland - guitar, vocals

New York City's Serious Pilgrim released a total of three demo cassettes between Autumn 1989 and Autumn 1991... this third cassette, "Rest It On Your Face," was released on CD a year later. These digital files were pulled directly from the CD without any re-mastering work being done to them.

At the time of the release of "Rest It On Your Face," Serious Pilgrim were playing very steadily all over the eastern US, but mostly at what they considered their home, NYC's CBGB, playing there nearly twice per month. They were also opening for national acts at venues like the Wetlands Preserve, the Lone Star Roadhouse, and The Ritz (now and formerly Webster Hall).

Many people consider Serious Pilgrim to have been a bit ahead of their time... and of those people, a percentage greater than 31.6% consider "Rest It On Your Face" to be their finest hour. So here it is, at long last, for you to stream or download. Hope you enjoy it.
